common modding/ hacking name terms?

Dear Global glitches, since i want to get into modding and all that stuff. i have been a bit cinfussed with some names you call programs and stuff. For instance what is a Jtag?

a jtag is a xbox that is of coarse jtagged and it allows you to run unassigned (.xex) codes and that is what host our friendly 10th lobbiez

Do you need to install any software to play the ios disks? or do you like save the game to hardrive then pout the disk in? or something
